The STAR Framework gives families, educators, policymakers, and the community the opportunity to broaden their understanding of school performance and growth and to share common data across schools. The STAR Framework is designed to help school communities celebrate successes, focus discussions, identify areas for support, and inform strategic planning.
Overall STAR Rating
The School Transparency and Reporting (STAR) Framework is DC's school accountability system. Schools receive a rating of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the highest, based on their performance across multiple metrics. A school that does not meet the minimum population size to generate a STAR rating is shown as 'Not Applicable'. Explore this data using the links below to review performance by student group or click on the School Framework tab above to explore performance within each measure.
Student Group Scores
The STAR Framework separately measures performance of each student group for every metric and adds them together to calculate the overall STAR score. Exploring the data below will enable you to see the performance within each student group and identify areas of success and those with room for improvement.
